A product of Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia's unique Celtic music tradition, Brad's relationship with the fiddle began at the side of a humble man. His grandparents (Lefort and MacDonald) played the fiddle and piano at many family gatherings over the years, and when his grandfather brought him to a concert of the Cape Breton Fiddler's Association, it would spark the interest in playing the instrument.
Brad now performs the lively Cape Breton Scottish music, as well as other fiddle styles, and records with other artists when called upon.
He teaches private lessons in fiddle and accompaniment on piano and guitar, and performs for weddings, ceilidhs and receptions.
Check out his two fiddle based performing groups: Jigs Start Here, and the Baroque N' Fiddle String Quartet.
August 26-28, 2016, Brad traveled to Morinville, AB to participate in the Canadian Grand Masters Fiddling Competition weekend. His participation in this fiddle packed weekend of performing and learning from all the others participants was made possible through the support of Arts NS.
